What Is 18ct Gold Vermeil?

Vermeil can be a life saver when it comes to affordable jewellery as it gives the look and feel of real gold but at the fraction of the price. But what makes it so special and how is it different from ordinary gold plate?

For our jewellery to be officially classed as Vermeil, we guarantee that all of our pieces are:

  • Plated over a base metal of Sterling Silver (so no costume or mysterious base metals in our jewellery). We don't use any nickel, cadmium or lead - these alloys can irritate the skin and cause reactions.
  • The industry standard for Vermeil plating is using a minimum of 2.5 microns of gold. We plate our pieces to 3 microns for an extra luxurious finish that will last.

Keep It Bright

There are some easy ways to keep your jewellery looking brighter for longer.

- Invest in a scratch-free polishing cloth. These will brighten up any pieces that have become dull over time.

- Avoid contact with harsh chemicals, take off jewellery before you start your beauty regime.

- Take off before swimming. Chlorine in pools can be abrasive, as can salt in the sea - it's always best to remove items before swimming.

Free Replating

Are your pieces looking a little faded? We offer free replating on any Seol + Gold Vermeil jewellery.
